The Upstairs Flat - renovated to a very high standard in 2024 - can accommodate two guests. Every room - the upstairs bedroom (mind the winding stairs!), lounge and dining room - boasts full length, south-facing windows, with the lounge and dining room giving on to the large south-facing terrace with more than enough room to dine or simply lounge around amidst the greenery.
The bedroom. As the house is built on a hill, you enjoy a dominant view from here of Sainte Victoire.
The Upstairs Flat Chez David consists of an upstairs bedroom with panoramic views towards Cézanne's famous Sainte Victoire through the French windows. As well as the large double bed, there is a sofa and parquet flooring.
Down the winding stairs is the loo and shower, a large lounge, the dining room and all-new kitchen (cooker, over, etc.).
The dining room and lounge have a double-sided wood burner for those chilly winter nights.
There is air-conditioning in each room.
The lounge opens onto the south-facing balcony, whereas the dining room opens directly onto a south-facing terrace planted with flowers.
The renovated decor is a blend of contemporary and Provencal style with very large windows that fill the rooms with light.
Home from home; the loung and kitchen. The lounge give onto the smaller part of the terrace, where two people can enjoy a drink around the bistro table.
There is a small public fountain on the quiet (and very narrow - watch out! road outside the front door (where you can park your car or bicycles).
Unfortunately, as ours is an old Provencal house, the Upstairs Flat is not suitable for anyone who struggles with walking - there are quite a few steps - or for young children.

The village of Vaugines is a peaceful hamlet that is popular with walkers and horse-riders. It boasts a shop-cum-bakery, a bar (serving pizzas and the like) and restaurant.
Vaugines is situated on the crest of a hill between the villages of Cucuron and its better-known neighbour Lourmarin, the final resting place of Albert Camus. Vaugines' claim to fame is that parts of Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources were filmed here.
Our gite is likely to appeal to visitors looking for homely charm and comfort, and who enjoy the outdoor life, especially walking and cycling.
The gite is also a place to recharge your batteries if you or hungry for peace and quiet... but still want to be close to the cultural sites of, for example, Aix or Avignon.
